Our Campuses

The Montefiore Home has campuses in Hunters Hill,  Randwick and Woollahra (Hostel only). It provides a full range of residential aged care services, a form of supported accommodation for the aged that provides higher levels of assistance than provided by other forms of aged accommodation, such as retirement villages and independent living units. This includes:

  • Hostel (or Low-Level care) for Residents who require some assistance with daily activities.
  • Nursing Home (or High-Level Care) for frail or physically dependent  Residents requiring a higher level of nursing care
  • High and Low Special Care Units for Residents with dementia and other cognitive impairment requiring specialised care in a secure and caring environment
  • Respite Care, a form of short-term accommodation and care in times of need.

All Montefiore Residents enjoy 24 hour emergency staff assistance, a full cleaning and laundry service,  outstanding kosher meals served in a restaurant-style environment.

Introducing Randwick Campus

The design of Montefiore’s new campus in Randwick has been influenced by leading-edge research into aged care needs and quality of lifestyle. As a result, the Randwick campus incorporates a host of innovative design concepts and modern technologies which will enhance the lives and lifestyles of our Residents and their families.

The Home is built around two substantial internal courtyards, with the main entry off Dangar Street. It offers a number of impressive facilities including Burger Day Centre, community plaza and ample underground parking.

Accommodation

Accommodation caters for privacy, comfort and security.

The Home offers the following types of accommodation and care:

  • Hostel (Low-level) Care for Residents who require some assistance with daily activities.
  • Dementia-Specific Care in our Special Care Units for Residents with dementia or other cognitive impairment who require a secure environment
  • Nursing Home or ‘High-Level’ Care for frail or physically dependent Residents who require a higher level of nursing care.
  • Respite Care provides short-term accommodation and care in times of need. Typically, respite care is used for periods following an operation or to give a carer some respite from their daily care role. It also provides a valuable opportunity to experience life within a residential care setting.

Residents have their own rooms with en-suite and air-conditioning, ensuring privacy and the added security of an autonomous space of their own. Some shared accommodation is available for couples or those who prefer companionship.

The Classic room

A generously proportioned single room with en-suite bathroom and built-in cupboards and wardrobe providing ample storage space. It represents the entry level into Hostel accommodation and is the standard room within the nursing home section. The Classic room includes space for a refrigerator (provided on request) and microwave housed within an attractive joinery unit. In Hostel configuration, the room also includes a wet bar and corner display unit.  A flat panel LCD television, fully wired for Foxtel and internet access are standard features of Classic Rooms.

The Deluxe room

An exceptional standard of accommodation.  It is more spacious than the Classic room and features a defined sleeping area and plenty of wardrobe space. Most Deluxe rooms have private balconies or access to a courtyard if located on ground level. Like the Classic Room, the Deluxe room offers an LCD television, foxtel, wet bar and space for a refrigerator and microwave.

The Suite

Without a doubt, the Suite represents the premium level of accommodation available at Randwick. The Suite offers a completely separate bedroom, lounge and walk-in style kitchenette. The separate bedroom is generously proportioned and has direct access to either a private balcony or courtyard area. The Suite includes two LCD televisions (one for the bedroom and one for the lounge) as well as Foxtel and internet capability.

Services and facilities (Nursing and Allied Health Care)

Randwick has nursing and other staff on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Residents have free access to an extensive list of allied health services aimed at enhancing their well-being and quality of life.

In addition to elegantly appointed rooms, the Home offers its Residents numerous lounges and communal areas, providing separate quiet places for the enjoyment of Residents and their visitors.

Both within the internal courtyards and surrounding the complex, there are beautifully landscaped gardens. The Home also has a number of glassed-in Wintergardens. The Randwick facility boasts one of the largest Hydrotherapy pools in the southern hemisphere and incorporates a circular spa for massage therapy and relaxation. The surrounding deck area is spacious and extends, via a glass operable wall, onto a large balcony overlooking landscaped gardens.

Day Centres

Hunters Hill and Randwick have a Day Centre which is open to the wider community. Day Centre members come on a regular day each week to meet people, make friends and take part in exercise, games and a range of varied activities organised by trained therapists. They enjoy morning tea and a hot kosher midday meal.

Fostering friendship and well-being at our Club Monte Day Centre, Hunters Hill

Club Monte offers the senior members of our community the opportunity to enjoy a day out at our centre at Hunters Hill.

At Club Monte, you can:

  • meet a whole new circle of like-minded friends by socialising with the other members
  • participate in stimulating and therapeutic activities like Tai Chi or gentle exercises
  • enjoy a variety of entertainment by singers and musicians
  • exercise your creativity through arts and crafts
  • participate in quizzes and discussion groups or enjoy lectures on topical and interesting subjects
  • join us on outings to visit some of Sydney’s interesting sights
  • enjoy the benefits of our aquatic physio or physiotherapy services.

The Home’s drivers collect Club Monte members from their North Shore or Eastern suburbs homes and bring them to Hunters Hill where they participate in activities, are served morning tea and a delicious lunch and are dropped back home in the afternoon. A small fee applies.

Many of our members choose to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions with their friends at Club Monte. A few places are still available, so we look forward to welcoming you or your family member.

Please call Cecily Wener on (02) 9879 2726

to find out more about joining Club Monte.

Burger Centre Randwick

The Burger Centre is a day centre for people living in the community who are frail or have special needs as a result of a stroke, Parkinson’s disease or dementia.

The Burger Centre is the result of an historic partnership between Montefiore and JewishCare working collaboratively to provide the aged community with a much broader level and range of services. In addition to providing the capacity to accommodate increased numbers at the Burger Day Centre, the location of the Burger Centre at the Randwick Campus provides Burger Centre members with access to the Home’s other amenities like the superb Aquatic Centre, our onsite hairdresser and café.

This partnership supports Montefiore’s strategy to provide a continuum of care for our frail and elderly.

If you are living independently in the community and would like to become a member of The Burger Centre, please call 1300 133 660 for an assessment.
