David Freeman AM, President

 

For the last three decades, while pursuing a successful career as a partner in the commercial law firm, Abadee, Dresdner & Freeman, David has played a leading role in Jewish Communal affairs. 

As a former Vice President of the Wolper Jewish Hospital, he oversaw its conversion from a convalescent facility to a modern surgical hospital. 

He also served as the Honorary Solicitor for the Jewish Communal Appeal for 15 years.

In 1985, David joined the Montefiore Board, served as Vice President for 8 years and was elected President in 2004.  He was awarded an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) in July 2008 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his service to the Jewish community. 

David has been Chairman of the Montefiore Development Committee since 2000.  The Development Committee has been responsible for the successful planning, design and construction of Stage 1 of the Randwick Development, a state of the art communal residential aged care facility, accommodating 276 Residents. 

The Committee has also been responsible for the planning, design and approval of the Master Plan for the remainder of the site at Randwick, comprising an additional 300 rooms, and Development Approval for Stage 2 of this development, providing a new 90-bed dementia-specific wing.

David has two children, Marc Freeman and Camilla Topper and two granddaughters.
